This year is the 7th anniversary of the La Gacilly Soup festival.
A chance for amateurs and professionals alike to show off their soup making skills.
Entries from home cooks, restaurants and schools are spread throughout the village in the craft shops.
This is me with last year’s professional cook winner, Justine Croxall.
She was putting the finishing touches to her entry this year….
Carotte avec Thé Chai & Crème de Gingembre.
She also proudly showed me her trophy from last year.
The public, who taste the soups, vote to decide the winner and the English have more than their share of past winners.
Indeed you’re just as likely to hear English spoken as French.
The village is packed with people even in bad weather and…
The car parks resemble bike shows with the amount of motor bikes in the village.
I’m only sorry I couldn’t enter the competition but will be there next year!
Too busy in my own kitchen today I didn’t have the time to taste to many soups.
But if past years are anything to go by…
There will be a high standard of soup making skills!
