Fish and Potato “Scotch Eggs”

This recipe is the basic recipe, first time I’ve attempted cooking what are essentially fish cakes wrapped round a quails egg. So changes that I could have made, use a smoked fish instead of fresh, chopped leeks in the potato, chilli flakes in the bread crumbs. This is a recipe to read, look at what you have and come up with your own recipe.

Braaied Spareribs from Hanneicas Kitchen

My friend Hanneica hanneicaskitchen sent over this recipe for Braaied Spareribs she says, “In South Africa we call cooking a meal over a charcoal fire in the outdoors a braai, the same as you call it a BBQ. The word comes from the Afrikaans ‘braaivleis’, which means literally ‘burn meat’”

Lamb Tagine

A Tagine is an earthen wear pot traditionally used to cook over hot coals, they can be used on a gas or electric hob if a “defuser” is put between the heat and the pot, if you don’t do this is it may crack. I prefer to use my tagine in the oven, the purists will complain but it works for me.

George Foreman 18471 Black 4-Portion Family Grill

I love my grill, I use it for lower calorie cooking, it removes so much fat from food, much better than frying and cooking from both sides means its quicker, I use my grill for cooking Tandoori and looking at the price of these George Forman grills I’m going to change my generic grill for a George Forman. £22.50 & FREE Delivery in the UK

Treacle Pudding

Remember the puddings of your youth, a simple pudding with just a few ingredients, steam treacle pudding was amongst my favourites. But they took a long time to cook, steam treacle pudding needed to be cooked for 2 hours. This version using a microwave takes just 3 1/2 minutes.

3 in 1 Food Stand Mixer, Blender,Meat Grinder 5L in Red, 1200W w/Splash Guard £99.99

I’ve been thinking about buying a stand mixer for a long time but kept putting it off, but I’m looking to replace my hand mincer with an electric one, when I saw the price I decided that it was worth spending a few extra quid and buying a 3 in 1 mixer, I also get frustrated on how long it takes my bread maker to make dough, as I usualy bake it in the oven and not in the machine. £99.99 a saving of £200
51tr3NTsw0L._SL160_
This Charles Jacobs stand mixer boasts amazing features and performance. Inside its burly housing is a solid steel direct drive transmission that delivers 6 speeds straight from the 800-watt motor. Having those different speeds allows you to use the correct amount of power for everything from egg whites to bread dough. As far as bread dough goes, its large-capacity bowl holds enough for two loaves of bread or about 8-9 dozen biscuits. Adding optional attachments to the power hub virtually transforms the Charles Jacobs’s corner of your countertop into a professional kitchen worthy of any caterer or bakery. A Charles Jacobs mixer is a seriously versatile piece of equipment that will similarly expand your culinary capabilities.

Beef Tongue

This is a first for me, I’ve eaten tongue before but never cooked it. I can imagine people turning there nose up but this is really delicious and tender, although its considered a fatty meat the fat is part of the meat with very little white fat showing and as offal its economic, cook it and eat cold on sandwiches, hot as a dinner, why not make a good amount of sauce and freeze portions of meat in sauce in foil containers. definitely worth a try.

Parmesan and Panko Pork Cutlets

Another recipe from my good friend Patty at COOKING ON A BUDGET,

Parmesan and Panko Pork Cutlets for dinner any night of the week. Using our marinara sauce we just made and taking the cutlets from the whole loin we purchased out of the freezer, I put together a different version of my Pork Cutlet Parmesan. Replacing regular plain bread crumbs with ground panko crumbs and adding in some basic Italian spices and lots of grated Parmesan cheese helped elevate the level of taste in this recipe.

Before I give the recipe I would say I could have done this better, I used 4 rounds of Filo pastry, should have used 3, I put feta cheese on the spinach, what I would have been better doing would be to make a cheese sauce and use that. But none the less this worked and was tasty.
